Why cable should only be cut using cable shears

Due to a scissors action, Knipex cable shears cut cable smoothly and cleanly – unlike diagonal cutters which crush and deform cable ends and insulation with their blades that meet at an obtuse angle.

The cable shears must not be used to cut hard wire because of the nature of their cutting edges and their specific suitability for shortening cable. Users can, for example, professionally shorten NYM-J 3x1.5 mm or NYM-J 5x2.5 mm and all other stranded and finely stranded Cu and Al cables up to 50 mm².
