Wuppertal, 10th July 2014. KNIPEX will be the first company to be awarded the “Outstanding Employer” Seal of Approval by TÜV Rheinland. TÜV Rheinland auditors spent two days at the company auditing the KNIPEX HR management. The certification process was above all directed at the following main areas: ethics and corporate culture, organisation and processes, fundamentals of HR management, HR marketing, recruitment, operational HR management, HR development, HR accounting and exit and transition management.
In past years KNIPEX has greatly expanded and further developed its HR management. “The test procedure and the subsequent certification have enabled us to pursue several objectives simultaneously: we wanted to have the results of our activities assessed once by a neutral body to compare this to our own perspective. Additionally the audit and future monitoring audits give us the opportunity to find further improvement potential so that we can continue to improve. The TÜV Rheinland Seal of Approval is of course an effective public relations instrument which can further strengthen our image and our profile as employer”, explains KNIPEX HR Manager Kai Wiedemann.
During the on-site audit, TÜV Rheinland auditors investigated all HR processes and checked them according to the requirements specified by the “Outstanding Employer” standard. They conducted interviews with the HR manager and works council, as well as with various line managers in the areas of HR marketing and development, training, recruitment and HR support.
Furthermore documents such as training material and development plans were checked to provide objective evidence to back up the interview statements. The individual processes were also checked in terms of their efficacy. “It is important that processes – such as the application process – are clearly defined and that the company monitors their efficacy”, explains Arne Spiegelhoff, Project Manager at TÜV Rheinland. Only with a transparent and systematic approach can professional HR management be lived and maintained in the long-term. TÜV Rheinland auditors then compared the results obtained during the audit to conversations with members of staff selected by them without the involvement of the HR department.
“KNIPEX achieved very good results during the employee survey it conducted itself, and these results were very much confirmed by the discussions we had with staff. The very low level of staff turnover also speaks in favour of a strong bond between company and employees. For this reason we are pleased to award KNIPEX the “Outstanding Employer” Seal of Approval, summarises Arne Spiegelhoff, who handed the certificate over to KNIPEX management on 4th July 2014.
