KNIPEX in the Middle East – the establishment of a subsidiary in Dubai

Wuppertal, 22.05.2012 – The founding of KNIPEX Tools Middle East (KTME) in April represented the opening of the Wuppertal pliers specialist’s fourth own international branch, adding to those in Chicago, Moscow and Shanghai.

Two employees posted from Germany will supply and support customers in some 20 countries with the “Made in Germany” pliers from the new “Middle East” headquarters.

“With one of the largest man-made sea ports, Dubai acts as a hub in the Middle East and therefore offers the ideal conditions to support the surrounding Arabian countries as well as the strongly expanding markets in Asia.  This enables us to achieve greater proximity to customers there”, says Ralf Putsch, Managing Partner of the KNIPEX plant.  The construction of its own warehouse to supply customers with merchandise quickly and flexibly therefore forms part of KTME’s plans.

In addition to Ralf Putsch and the KNIPEX Export Manager Dirk Pahl, guests travelling to Dubai for the opening celebration included retailers and business partners from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and representatives of the German Chambers of Foreign Trade.  The representative of the free trade zone Jebel Ali, the site of the KTME office, gave Ralf Putsch a trophy as a token of his appreciation and as a welcome to the Jebel Ali location.

The social programme for the celebratory opening ceremony was a varied desert safari which was also marked by a flat tyre and a number of vehicles getting stuck in the sand.  Guests were relaxed about this, and regarded the small challenge in a sporting manner.  After all this experience offered an insight to conditions as they were 50 years ago, before Dubai had developed such excellent infrastructure.

KNIPEX has been selling its quality tools in the Middle East since the 1960s.

Today the company supplies over 100 countries throughout the world.  The export ratio is 60%, and all in all some 20% of the KNIPEX sales are achieved outside Europe.
